
After 40 years, the New York Police Department held a memorial service on June 17th, 2013 for police officer, Ralph Stanchi.

The Police Benevolent Association (PBA) of New York, the union that represents park police officers, says that issues of public safety are coming up in relation to the city's state parks. The union is calling on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to scrap a plan to supplement its police force by hiring what they call inexperienced, unprepared college students to perform law enforcement duties.

Now, New York City’s children can get out of harm’s way in a quicker manner.

Calling New York City a “millionaire’s club,” New York City Public Advocate and mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio unveiled his plan to reduce economic inequality in the five boroughs in an hour-long speech at the New School in Greenwich Village.
